Entry 7---Work for the greater good, no matter how many times you get shot down, just because “you are not a good fit” does not mean that you weren’t right. (Refer to Entry 1)

Believe it or not, I was told that at one time.  The individual just gushed with positive remarks about my interview, and the materials that I had created and provided to the committee.  My question was “if I was so great, why didn’t I get the job?”  Well, it turns out I wasn’t a good fit.  Oops, my bad.

What a waste of my time!  I know that with the materials I had provided and my own research to answer questions that I probably intimidated some folks, but I also have since learned that the interviews were merely for the sake of interviewing.  The decision on the hire was done before I even interviewed.

So, if you are told that, more than likely, someone can’t or won’t tell you the real reason you weren’t considered for the job.  Ergo, it does not mean that you weren’t right for the job.  It means that you weren’t “right” to work within that situation, and you are probably better off for it.  Move on.
